Why won’t Hillary bow out? Perhaps the simple explanation is the most pertinent. She wants to be President.

One of the knocks against John McCain has been his age. He is 71 years old. If he is elected, he’ll be the oldest President to start a first term (72). Reagan was 69 when he took office. Hillary will turn 61 in October. Keep that in mind.

Along with many people in the country, Hillary probably feels the Democrats have this election in the bag. They think the country is so fed up with the Republicans that the White House will be D-occupied for at least the next eight years, so whoever wins this primary will be President for the next two terms, because campaigning against your own party’s incumbent for the nomination is a bad idea.

So where does that leave Hillary?

If she wins this nomination, [she thinks] she’ll be in the White House for eight years. If she loses, she [assumes she] will watch Barack Obama for eight years, and she’ll be pushing 69 when the next opportunity presents itself. There’s already plenty of ammo to go after Hillary; age would just be another strike against her.

It seems obvious to me that she doesn’t care about anything but her power. She may be willing to sabotage her fellow Democrats because if McCain wins, she can run again in four years. If Obama wins, she doesn’t have much chance, and like I mentioned before, she wants to be President.

We all know she wants it. What remains to be seen is how badly she wants it.
